Media statement
Green Wind Renewables and Yued Aboriginal Corporation sign heritage protection agreements WA’s clean energy transition will help contribute to slowing global warming, but the sector is running hot across Yued Boodja.
Green Wind Renewables is the latest Renewable Energy Developer to sign Yued Heritage Protection Agreements, for its Grevillea and Wandoo projects, bringing to four the number of companies pursuing potential developments in the coastal MidWest.
The State’s Traditional Owners are under increasing pressure to respond to the challenges and opportunities such developments present.
Yued Aboriginal Corporation is working hard to ensure that Yued people are taking part in and benefiting from the significant investment planned to occur on their lands and waters.
The Yued Heritage Protection Agreement (YHPA) establishes the processes by which consideration is given to activities planned by project proponents.
Under a YHPA, proponents submit their planned Activity Notice which is considered by YAC’s Cultural Advice Committee (CAC). The CAC then provides advice to YAC’s management team on how to best ensure that cultural heritage is identified and protected.

“Good corporate citizens want a good relationship with Yued but also know that charitable corporations like Yued Aboriginal Corporation are not resourced to engage in complex negotiations.
“Green Wind Renewables has taken the first step, a heritage protection agreement. We’re optimistic we can work with the company to establish an agreement that captures the potential of a relationship between Yued and the company.”
