Yued Land Strategy 2026
It establishes Yued Nyoongar priorities, and processes the corporation will follow to inform project prioritisation and decision-making.
Media statement
With the release of its new land-use strategy, Yued Aboriginal Corporation has laid the foundation for unlocking land and funding from the South West Native Title Settlement across the 26,000 square kilometre Yued Agreement Area.
The strategy sets guiding principles for the corporation in Caring for Country, Building Community and Creating Opportunity.
Yued Boodja is undergoing an industrialisation process that will see large-scale renewable projects, upgraded transmission lines, significant infrastructure development and mining in an area with continuing agricultural, tourism and conservation activities.
The accumulation of land under the Noongar Boodja Trust presents some exciting opportunities for Yued Nyoongars through the corporation, and the potential for it to build its own investments alongside the trust.
The Yued Land Strategy 2026 establishes Yued Nyoongar priorities, and establishes processes the corporation will follow to inform project prioritisation and decision-making.
Comments attributable to Sharna Meinertz, Chairperson, Yued Aboriginal Corporation
“Defining what we want and how we want to engage with opportunities across our Boodja is a critical first step.
“This document also provides valuable information to government and the private sector to guide how they can talk and work with us regarding the future protection and use of our land and waters.”
Comments attributable to Rewi Lyall, Chief Executive Officer, Yued Aboriginal Corporation
“Eleven local government authorities have responsibility for part of Yued Boodja.
“They sit beside the multitude of State agencies that each seek to implement the Western Australian government’s conservation and development priorities.
“Yued Aboriginal Corporation is taking an increasingly active approach to how we advocate and pursue Yued Nyoongar interests in conservation and development of their traditional land and waters.
“This strategy sets some markers for how we’ll do this work, and some signposts for government and companies for what they can expect to see from us in the future.”
