Western Yilgarn NL and Yued Aboriginal Corporation sign heritage protection agreements
Media statement
Protecting and caring for the cultural heritage of Yued Boodja is a core function of Yued Aboriginal Corporation, representing Yued interests across the coastal MidWest and inland.
A wide range of people and companies seeking to access land for various types of projects are looking for certainty about how to work with Yued to reduce the risk of inappropriate or harmful use of land.
That’s why Yued Aboriginal Corporation developed its Yued Heritage Protection Agreement (YHPA), which establishes the processes by which consideration is given to activities planned by project proponents.
Under a YHPA, proponents submit their planned Activity Notice which is considered by YAC’s Cultural Advice Committee (CAC). The CAC then provides advice to YAC’s management team on how to best ensure that cultural heritage is identified and protected.
Comments attributable to Rewi Lyall, Chief Executive Officer, Yued Aboriginal Corporation
“The Yued Heritage Protection Agreement is the best way for proponents to get certainty and make sure they don’t inadvertently harm Yued cultural heritage.
“Western Yilgarn gets it. This is good business and builds respectful relationships.”
Comments attributable to Peter Michael, Non-Executive Director, Western Yilgarn NL
